America 250 Event: Declaring Independence and Ice Cream Social

For the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Montgomery County, PA, is hosting "Houses of Declaration,"a series of community-organized, live, public readings of the Declaration of Independence. These readings are designed to recreate the historic public readings of 1776, celebrating the county’s role as the "Gateway to Independence".

On Sunday, August 2nd, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Hope Lodge will host a free, public celebration for America’s 250th birthday. This community event features a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence by historical actor Steven Edenbo as Thomas Jefferson, live music by the Philly Fife and Drum Company, and an ice cream social for local families.
